Local Primary Schools
Waitakiri School
At Waitākiri Primary School, children learn in flexible spaces designed to maximise teacher collaboration, student self-regulation and student centered learning. Children will learn about their world and learn through meaningful contexts and engaging learning experiences. The school has outstanding facilities, furniture, fittings and resources to support teaching and learning.
Rawhiti School
Rāwhiti School is a year 1-8 full primary school. It was built on the site of the former North New Brighton School as part of the Christchurch Schools Rebuild programme. It opened at the beginning of 2016. Children have a wealth of outdoor learning facilities at their spacious new school. As well as new playgrounds and shade sails, there is an artificial playing turf, a sandpit, an amphitheatre and a scooter track. The two heated swimming pools are popular throughout the summer and children can bring their own bike or use a school bike to ride on the 440m asphalt track or challenge themselves on the skills track or pump track. The orchard, garden and tunnel house are developing into a great outdoor learning space. Basketball and netball courts and a large playing field provide great outdoor play spaces. Inside, flexible learning spaces allow teachers to design learning to meet the needs of every student, so children can find a space which supports the way they need to learn. There are also areas for teachers to plan, meet collaboratively, and access resources to support the way they teach. Each learning studio has kitchen and art facilities and breakout rooms for various activities. The large multi-use hall is ideal for sports, choir, kapahaka, assemblies and performances. The music room provides space for individual and group lessons and band practice. The library is situated at the heart of our school and is a fantastic space for chilling out with a book.
Marshland School
At Te Rito Harakeke - Marshland School, we want to provide and follow clear and consistent behavioural expectations of our students. As kaimahi, the most important behaviour strategy is knowing our ākonga and forming appropriate, positive relationships with them.
Our ākonga, kaimahi, and whānau are encouraged to live and act according to our Marshland MANA school values:
Manaakitanga - Displaying respect and care towards peers, teachers, and the environment
Ako - Learner - Demonstrating a growth mindset, students always give their best and engage in learning
Ngātahi - Working well together, connecting, communicating, and collaborating positively with others
Aumangea - Display resilience by taking risks, showing ‘grit’, and bouncing back.
Parkview School
Our vision is to foster a passion for lifelong learning in every student. This is a values driven process which is centred around the values of:
Relationships/whanaungatanga,
Belonging/manaakitanga,
Learning/ako
and collaborating together/mahi tahi.
We have a well-resourced school with a wide range of exciting learning opportunities that will challenge and grow every student.
We look forward to working together, so feel free to come in and visit us any time.
South New Brighton School
We are uniquely located, with the estuary, beach and forest at our doorstep. The school is a U5 (300–500 students), full primary school catering for Yr 0–8, with tamariki attending aged from 5 to 13 years.
We have a commitment to providing high-quality education in a caring and supportive environment. We offer a thriving programme of learning for tamariki, where our students aspire to demonstrate our school values of Caring, Connected, Courageous, Creative and Curious.
Queenspark School
We have a great team at Queenspark Te Hua Mānuka. We believe that our school is a fantastic place; a place for children to come and learn, for teachers to come and teach and for parents & caregivers to come and get involved.
Our collective aim is to provide the very best in learning opportunities for our children. “Stepping Up & Reaching Out” is our mission statement. This simply refers to our culture of encouraging children to do their best in all endeavours as they move through the learning steps.
We want our children to become powerful learners so that they are able to develop thinking skills, relationship skills within the context of a community, self-management skills and physical well-being skills — all built on a foundation of numeracy and literacy skills. The values of being resolute, being respectful and being responsible are foundation values that we actively foster in our children. We call these our 3 R’s (Responsible, Respectful & Resolute)
